Long time… no blog…

It has been a long time since I’ve updated the Transient Sky blog. I’ll update everyone with more details later. In the meantime, all is well with me. I just ran out of time this summer to keep the blog up to date. A new (or newish) job and 1 year old twin boys will do that.

  1. Carl,
We’re happy to know everything is going well with you.
From Brazil my main updates are regarding the comet Garradd. I observed it last weekend with a 20x80B and it looks awesome from here. I will try some photos next time.

    Best,
    Fred

I saw a bright star next to the moon today in Seattle st dawn…6:30. It was very bright even with the sun rising. Do you know what it is?

      Hi Vicki,
This one is easy to answer. The bright star near Jupiter on the morning of the 16th was Jupiter. With the exception of Venus (which is much brighter but always located near the horizon at dawn or dusk), Jupiter is the brightest ‘star’ in the sky. Jupiter and the Moon will team up again on Oct 13/14.
      Thanks for writing,
      – Carl
